Tried these strings on the recommendation of friends, and while I like them, for $80+ dollars I dont think theyre really any better than the DAddario Chromes I usually use. My only gripe is the A string is floppier than the other three and could be a bit heavier to get a really good balance of string tension across the set.

I have heard they last for years so the high entry price should be negated by how long they last. If that G was lighter though, it may be a different story. 10/10 would recommend these strings. I put a set of FI flats on my old Guild Starfire (since departed).
Very smooth to play and nicer feeling than all the other flats Ive played. Gold Supporters see zero ads! The low tension is something that one can get used to but a .43-.100 gauge string is essentially useless for me as soon as the drummer comes in. Only marginally softer feeling thanmy usual Roto 40-100 Swing Bass (I havent had to touch the neck) and noticeably stiffer than the 35-95 nickel Rotos, which surprised me, although matches the tension figures in my first post. Thats the word. The sound will amaze you and surprise you too. They are available to offer you personalized product advice any time you need it. But I kept hearing about how great tapewound strings sound on the acoustic bass so it kept bugging me to try some out so I ordered the GHS tapes and they would not fit the bridge where the string meets the ball. Theyre also - at least given I cant try them in a band situation - very clear-sounding. We had to play for 2.5 hours without a break and my hands feel great! The only downside is you do lose unplugged volume using the flats but I'll live with that cause I love these strings on my Breedlove bass and they fit through the bridge perfectly. I slapped a set on a MIA Jazz about a 2 years ago, after some really tight tension rounds and didn't bother to set my bass up correctly. I replaced the dead A with a similar string but there was a slight difference in tone between that and the TIs which drove me crazy. I was looking for the tension figures last night, comparing them to other strings Ive used, and the tension for the JF344 (43, 56, 70, 100)set appears to be showing as 140.19, which isnt that muchless than the 40-100 or 40-95 Roto Swing Bass I normally use (155.38 & 145.35) and is actually quite a bit higher than the Roto nickel 35-95 I occasionally alternate with (127.14). The short scale version works well on both of my short scale basses. I had these on my Squire VM Jazz bass, and though they sounded nice, due to fret issues they buzzed too much. But heres the equal part: like the bridge-cable LaBellas, the TIs sound terrific, and they only get better with age. First thing I do. Generally not impressed with the tone, and they were harder on my fingers than round wounds. Switching has been like going from a steel string acoustic guitar to a classical, which I mean in a good way. Give them a try! I've been playing with these strings for over 20 years now. I have not been happy with any strings. I think that because of the lower string tension, it allows the string to vibrate more widely witch allows more overtones to be created producing that nice round, warm, full bottom end.
