I remember I bought some as a tween and offered some to my cousin and my mothers friends sons. Noone corrected me otherwise *lol* How i miss my purple Chowders! My friend is a smoker and she really likes them as a breath-freshener. Rockblog or stonetasters.com. But some of your other comments are a little unsupported.Okay so liking or disliking the flavor is a matter of "taste" (pun intended) and so cannot really be argued. But when you claim that a fragrance cannot be refreshing, well, that just makes it sound like you lost your sense of smell in a freak accident or in battle or something. Got suggestions? I have not had them since the late 60s or early 70s. lol. Ive only had one pastille, and though it was OK (and lasted too long in my mouth), I love the smell of them! [where is the verification code?]. It's very similar to "Scents" gum that was hugely popular with the hippies back in the 1960's.
I feel so lady-like with a tin of Flavignys. Great blog! So I sequestered the invasive violets in three layers of paper bags (and promptly forgot about it because it was jammed in three paper bags and looked like trash). I wish Choward's had more flavors. I love violet pastilles. This company has a new product out as well. I dont even know what they were called.
I pictured Mother Goose rolling those fondants with her little feathered hands..haha..okay, Im weird, I know..lol, Dont go by us though.
$1.65 a pack =( although the price was a rip, I bought 2 packs anyways. I think I will go to the website and order them because they are way cheaper that way and the new guava mints they have are pretty decent, very strong taste though. Price: unknown (but have seen regular Chowards for $1.25) By the way, the dolls were called Lucky Locket Kiddles and they came in plastic perfume bottles attached to a cord neclace and little collectable plastic perfume bottles that just sat on your dresser.
i dont like the flavigny candies because of the anise seeds - and the tast of the candies i mentioned is much, much nicer!!!!!
I have to say, this gum is one of my all time favorites.
), Ratings: Violet Mints - 5 out of 10

It reminds me of these little tiny candies that were pink, green and purple in a package the size of a deck of cards that were sold in Sun Drugstores when I was a kid.

SteveCarras on 12/11/14 at 6:55 pm, Comment by In the latest Candyology 101 podcast, Maria and I tackled a little-celebrated candy bar, the Whatchamacallit. This is in response to Lisas violet candyYES!!! I have been searching for them but can not find them anywhere. This particular candy also came in a black version which I guess was licorice or anise flavored which I actually prefer to the purple ones. The chew is a little sticky and not at all like a chicklet, lacking that burst of sugar and cooling mint. Ive never had to do their mail order, but theyve always included a bit of dry ice when I knew I wasnt going right home with my pints. How about something tangy? Hedgie Hog on 3/10/11 at 6:13 pm, Comment by You obviously have noooooo taste buds.
They have the violet, guava, lemon and peppermint mints, and then the gum. Dont eat more than a couple of a time though because the cloying flavor/scent will make you sick.
Why Mike decided to come to this blog and leave a comment (like so many others Ive seen on other sites that discuss C.Howards) seems a bit suspect and Ive removed his further comments. This gum comes the closest to the "Scents" gum that I used to chew back in the 60"s. That gum came in a small square box and the box was colored purple and green. Paul the Red on 10/31/06 at 8:08 pm, Comment by

She always had a package of this violet candy in her pocket and it was a special treat when I could get her to give one up. Violet gum, eh? Well, this gum is the same way, I quickly grew to love it, and it is by a far margin my favorite gum. I dont know why the violet texture was so much more, um, sturdy, but it wasnt really appealing.
