Lalique hit a home run with Encre Noir and a lot of people pay much more money for quality like this. As simple as that. Ya forgot one that's really close to Encre Noir: Givenchy Vetyver is wonderful too ---fresh without the tobacco note of Guerlain Vetiver.

One crucial difference is that, despite their similarity, Sycomore seems to be a crowd-pleaser, whereas Encre Noire definitely is not. As the top notes lose their punch from the beginning, The scent really relaxes and continues its calm nature for the remainder of the time. If this bottle was several times the price it would still be worth it.

I'm not an expert on what Oud should smell like, but I have sampled Tom Ford Oud Wood and they are quite different. As I was reading them another perfume came to mind that relates to Encre Noire -- Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud.. For an allegedly oud based perfume, it's quite neutral -- not barnyard or bandaid. It is dense, tobacco/hay/bran/woods scent with some interesting twists (if that doesnt already seem interesting). Lalique does a great job presenting themselves slightly differently from other perfumers. If you're still looking for other fragrances, I would suggest trying these few that I have an enjoy as well: Lalique Equus: from the same house, but a much dryer wood smell than Encre Noire. It has great projection for this type of fragrance, it lasts all day, you will not smell like everyone else, people will compliment you and ask what you are wearing and you can wear it year around.

I know what Iso e super is but it's not a note I really pick out consciously, even though I have TDH edt too which is also supposed to be a iso e bomb. The bottle design represents the liquid inside perfectly. I highly recommend sampling this one before the purchase because there is no escaping that aromatic compound. Had already heard a lot of Encre Noir and for this price, I just had to strike. Opium Pour Homme: perhaps my favorite oriental to date. Encre Noire A LExtreme is my fav frag in my collection by far, its boozy and smoky and sexy and I cant get enough of it! When I compare EN Sport side-by-side with EN, I can tell that they are similar fragrances, but separately they give very different impressions. The scent oozes sophistication and masculinity. I absolutely love the vibes that encre noire gives off. Encre Noire is composed as a scent and at times, blends in very carefully with the environment. I can't explain what this fragnance does for me but it drives me insane with is mystical dark scent. I like its therapeutic properties, and vetiver essential oil is great for stress relief. Lalique Encre Noire Sport - Im an organic chemist, and when I first smelled this I thought, This smells just like limonene. And, indeed, when I checked the ingredients list, limonene was actually listed. It apparently comes in a 50mL bottle, but that should go a long way with two sprays, a coworker could smell me from across the room hours later. I have got to try Encre Noir now, and I'm definitely going to order a sample of Sycomore since I suggested that having never smelled it.
